Housing affordability is a top need for residents in our community and across metro Atlanta. Making rent payments on time is a monthly obstacle for many Atlantans, especially neighbors who are spending a large share of their income on rent or facing unexpected financial hardships.
Since our founding, OaksATL has been committed to making sure our residents do not lose their housing. Our end goal is resident stability. Job loss, funeral expenses, or unexpected medical bills should never lead to an eviction. We also have several residents who live on fixed incomes. We are determined that our veterans, seniors, and disabled residents never have to pay more than 30% of their income on rent.
In Leviticus 23:22, God’s people are instructed to set aside part of their harvest to care for those on the margins. At OaksATL, the 23:22 Plan does just that: it provides rental assistance to residents on fixed incomes who need long-term support and to residents facing unexpected hardships who need emergency help to stay stably housed.
In September 2025, a generous donor stepped forward with a $12,500 matching gift challenge to help OaksATL raise necessary 23:22 Plan funds over the course of one month. Throughout the month, we watched as 18 individual and family donors stepped up to help us meet that match. Together we suprassed our goal:
For many people, the housing crisis can feel too big to engage with on an individual level. But our community came together and showed that every gift matters. These funds will help keep a minimum of five families stably housed throughout this fiscal year.
Thank you for helping rebuild places, restore dignity, and renew community—one neighbor, one home, one block at a time.
