Oak trees are known for their deep root systems, which can extend multiple times beyond the tree’s canopy and survive for more than one thousand years.

Throughout our extensive stakeholder input process, neighbors and residents told us they long for spaces in which to belong and grow. After eight years of delivering trustworthy, mission‑aligned excellence in English Avenue, we believe OaksATL is uniquely positioned to cultivate deep, lasting community roots. Outlining three integrated strategic objectives and one enabling capacity priority, Grow 2030 is our roadmap to establishing a rooted, belonging, and flourishing community alongside our neighbors and residents.
We are honored to share an overview of our plan with our supporters and community:
OaksATL is already known for producing some of Atlanta’s highest‑quality affordable housing in one of its toughest development corridors. OaksATL tenants tell us they need larger homes as their families grow, and English Avenue legacy residents are hopeful about replacing blight with stable neighbors. By expanding from 33 to 100 mixed‑product units, we will anchor long‑term stability while reinforcing the dignity our craftsmanship provides.
Safe, vibrant blocks and strong social ties are the hallmarks of a thriving neighborhood. We will target blighted properties for redevelopment, activate ground‑floor retail as “third-places,” and formalize tenant events, communication streams and eviction prevention support. These moves will knit residents into a village of belonging where people know each other, feel protected, and have a real voice in shaping their community.
Stability is only the first step; opportunity is the next. Our OaksATL internal housing ladders (apartment → townhome/single-family rental → homeownership) will be paired with partner‑powered supports like workforce training or financial literacy coaching. By 2030, we aim to formalize the processes and partnerships, helping 5% of OaksATL households move one step towards achieving their housing goals.
To support bigger ambitions, OaksATL must deepen its own roots. We will formalize executive succession, launch a staff learning ladder, roll out impact dashboards, and mount a multi‑year capital campaign. These investments—brand clarity, data discipline, and diversified funding—ensure every additional house, family, and partnership rests on an organization built to last well beyond 2030.
We launched our strategic plan at the beginning of this fiscal year (2025/2026). We are already making strides towards our year-one goals and are determined to continue meeting our communities needs through high quality, affordable housing and its necessary supports.
