Groundbreaking at 557 Lindsay Street

OaksATL is proud to announce the groundbreaking of 557 Lindsay Street, a three-story mixed-use development that will bring new homes and new opportunities to English Avenue. As Urbanize Atlanta noted, the project “marks another step in the revival of Atlanta’s Westside, bringing affordable housing and neighborhood-serving commercial space to a long-vacant corridor.” This development represents years of collaboration with community leaders, legacy residents, and public and private partners committed to creating an equitable future for the Westside.

557 Lindsay will deliver six high-quality affordable housing units above ground-floor retail and office space, creating a community hub designed for both residents and local entrepreneurs. Each of the six two-bedroom, two-bath units, between 813 and 894 square feet, will be affordable to households earning between 50% to 80% of Area Median Income (AMI). The ground floor adds 1,639 square feet of retail, a dedicated OaksATL tenant laundry facility, and office space to support on-site management and resident services.

The commercial component of the project is designed with intention: retail spaces will be leased at below-market rates, with priority for local, small businesses. During community listening sessions, residents expressed a clear desire for food and beverage options within walking distance, especially as English Avenue has been designated a food desert for the past decade. 557 Lindsay directly responds to those priorities.

Once a blighted parcel with a structure demolished by OaksATL in 2020, the site will now become a vibrant cornerstone of community revitalization.
